Sagarmatha School

Located in the remote village of Chisapani, in the Udaypur District of the Sagarmatha Zone, Maya Universe Academy Sagarmatha perches atop the ridge of a Himalayan foothill. With it’s northern orientation, it is far more remote. The snow capped Himalayas are visible from the school house. This profoundly beautiful and unadulterated environment provides the backdrop for the education of our growing student population. A basic house located in the village serves as a base of operations for volunteers, while the students are taught in seven classrooms. Farming operations are growing steadily, caring for goats and tending to young seedlings. The school offers a simpler way of life for those that live here, as amenities such as wired power is unavailable. The house relies on solar. Community development is especially important, and the school holds workshops with the locals to assist them in making a better living. To get to this location, take a bus from Kathmandu to Gaighat (12 hours). From Gaighat, take another bus to Rauta and get off in Chisapani.
